For software developers and AI engineers alike, it serves as a reliable benchmark, showcasing their proficiency in crafting production-ready AI solutions using foundation models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures, and vector databases.

Mark your calendars for **November 18, 2025**, when registration for the beta exam will officially open. Participants in this beta phase will have the exciting opportunity to earn a special **Early Adopter badge** upon passing the exam. The beta exam itself will last **204 minutes** and comprise **85 questions**. A Comprehensive Exam Prep Plan

The **Exam Prep Plan** for the **AWS Certified Generative AI Developer – Professional** will also be available on **November 18, 2025**, via **[AWS Skill Builder](https://skillbuilder.aws/)**. This versatile plan is designed to thoroughly prepare candidates, featuring practice assessments filled with exam-style questions, hands-on experiences through **AWS SimuLearn**, and critical lessons focused on each exam domain and task statement. Additionally, the plan includes references to role-based training, allowing candidates to refresh their AWS knowledge and skills.

AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty Retirement

In the realm of AWS certifications, changes are in the wind. We are announcing the retirement of the **[AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty](https://aws.amazon.com/certification/certified-machine-learning-specialty/)** certification. The final opportunity to take this exam will be **March 31, 2026**. However, for those who have already earned the Machine Learning – Specialty certification, rest assured their certification will remain active until the original expiration date. Current certification holders can continue to navigate their AI/ML journey through our diverse portfolio of certifications including the **AWS Certified AI Practitioner**, **AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer – Associate**, **AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate**, and, of course, the new **AWS Certified Generative AI Developer – Professional** certifications.

Updated Security Certification for an Evolving Landscape

In addition, the **[AWS Certified Security – Specialty](https://aws.amazon.com/certification/certified-security-specialty/)** exam is set for updates to better reflect today’s rapidly evolving security landscape. The new version, designated **SCS-C03**, will expand its coverage to include emerging technologies, placing a particular focus on security measures related to generative AI and machine learning. To enhance the exam’s relevance for security professionals, we have restructured the exam domains, introducing distinct sections that concentrate on Detection and Incident Response capabilities.

Registration for the updated exam **(SCS-C03)** will also open on **November 18, 2025**. Security professionals interested in taking the current version **(SCS-C02)** will need to do so by **December 1, 2025**. To assist candidates preparing for the updated exam, AWS is launching an upgraded exam prep plan for **SCS-C03** through **AWS Skill Builder** on the same day. Furthermore, candidates can bolster their AWS knowledge by enrolling in the **[AWS Security Engineer Advanced Learning Plan](https://skillbuilder.aws/learning-plan/NTDPRSFC3F/aws-security-engineer-advanced-learning-plan/VUD51DEB41)**, which delves into essential aspects of cloud security vital for performing a Security Engineer role in the AWS Cloud. This training will focus on three primary functions: proactive planning, active monitoring, and responsive action.
