UST and IITM Incubation Cell’s MoU: A Catalyst for Deep Tech Startups in Healthcare and Life Sciences

Bengaluru, Chennai, Dec 17: In a promising step towards fostering innovation in the healthcare and life sciences sectors, UST, a leading provider of AI and technology transformation solutions, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the IIT Madras Incubation Cell (IITMIC). To ensure startups benefit from this collaboration, the MoU lays out a structured yet flexible partnership. UST and IITMIC will work closely to identify high-potential startups, mentor them, and support them in scaling their operations. The program seeks to systematically expand pilots and proof-of-concept projects while forming strategic collaborations to create new go-to-market opportunities.

"Pitch to Win: Pharma 4.0 Edition"

A standout feature of this partnership was the inaugural “Pitch to Win: Pharma 4.0 Edition,” jointly conducted by UST and IITMIC, with Pfizer serving as a Knowledge Partner and AWS as a Technology Partner. This initiative generated significant interest, attracting over ninety applications from startups across 32 cities in India, a clear indication of the vibrant ecosystem surrounding health tech startups.

The Competition Experience

The finalists of this competition underwent rigorous mentorship for a month before presenting their innovative ideas to a distinguished jury. The event was hosted at the IITMIC facility in Chennai, showcasing the innovative prowess of India’s burgeoning startup scene in healthcare and life sciences.

Recognizing Excellence

Among the competitors, Nucleo-Vir Therapeutics emerged victorious, while ChemBioSens and LN Infosphere Tech Transformers secured the first and second runner-up spots, respectively. The winners received cash prizes (₹1,25,000 for the winner, ₹75,000 for the first runner-up, and ₹50,000 for the second runner-up) along with conditional funding totaling up to ₹45 lakh, courtesy of UST.

Manu Gopinath, President of UST, shared his insights on the collaboration, noting that the partnership is not just about financial backing for startups. "We are nurturing bold founders and accelerating research-driven ideas, building a strong pipeline of solutions that can transform businesses and communities,” he stated.
